Yesterday’s Read-In was a great success. Plenty of people came to support the library service and oppose the cuts and closures. We’re getting very close to the 10,000 names needed for the petition, with 1,419 names from Conisbrough alone. Remember; the council only asked 2,726 people in the whole of Doncaster during the entire consultation process used to make these unjustifiable decisions.

BBC Look North and ITV Calendar News covered the event, as did Internet news channel YourNews24 (watch the video by clicking the image):

Please join us at library branches across Doncaster next Saturday to continue to show the council that the people of Doncaster will not tolerate such thoughtless, unjustifiable cuts to the educational, social and civic hubs of our communities. See here for locations, times and details. If you’d like to help or run a read-in at your local branch, please contact us.
